Hello, my name is Sheila…

I am a qualified counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling (in association with the University of Greenwich). This means I have been trained to deal with a variety of problems but can tailor my approach according to the needs of each individual.

I undertake regular clinical supervision, continuous professional development and work to the BACP Ethical Framework of Good Practice.

Currently working in private practice, I have also worked with a voluntary sector counselling agency and within the NHS. I have particular interest in and experience of working around disability and impairment and older age.

I also have over 30 years experience of working within the voluntary sector in a variety of settings – international, national and local. This has given me a real understanding of trans cultural working, equality and difference and these have become cornerstones of my practice.

The thought of starting counselling can feel really scary as you are considering telling a total stranger about some of your most intimate thoughts and feelings. But for many there is a huge sense of relief brought on by taking action to move their life in a different direction.

I can offer you a safe, caring, confidential space for you to be you and express your thoughts and feelings. I will not judge you but recognise you as the unique individual you are, who, like all of us sometimes gets it right, sometimes wrong.

I am not going to psychoanalyse you but will try to gain a sense of who you are. I will not offer advice but help you make your own decisions. You are the expert on yourself and only you can “fix” yourself or your problems but I am there to help you.
